Will my order arrive pre-cooked or do I need to cook it?
Cooking instructions are included inside the package with every order. Crabcakes are made from crabmeat that was cooked before being removed from the shell. When you recieve then you will still need to heat them to a safe intermal temperature. Burgers arrive completely uncooked. They too will need to be cooked to a safe internal temperature. Soups will only need to be heated. Please refer to the instructions provided with your order for more information.

Do I have to sign for my package?
Your signature is NOT required. Shipments WILL BE LEFT AT THE DOOR under normal circumstances. It is important to make sure that someone will be there to receive the package when it arrives. Packages containing CRABCAKES SHOULD BE REFRIGERATED IMMEDIATELY upon arrival. Other perishables must be refrigerated also. Burgers and other FROZEN FOODS should be put directly in the freezer. By the Bay Gourmet will not be responsible for shipments that were not picked up as required.

What are the shipping costs?
Because we are shipping fresh (perishable) food items we MUST ship overnight, and MUST package your order in a manner which will keep it at the proper temperatures during transit to you. Shipping charges are dependent on the package weight and travel distance. These charges will be automatically calculated prior to submitting your payment information.

Can I freeze my crab cakes?
We DO NOT suggest freezing your crab cakes. Freezing changes the perfectly balanced flavor the crab cakes. Our crab cakes are so gently created that freezing may cause pockets of ice crystals to form within the delicate structure of the cakes. We make it possible for you to enjoy the freshest possible products by filling each order as it comes in and then getting it straight to you by overnight delivery. We suggest ordering your crab cakes and other fresh items as needed. If freezing is unavoidable, make sure crab cakes are in an airtight container, preferably vacumm sealed. Then use them as soon as possible. See product instructions that come with your order for more information. By the Bay Gourmet is not responsible for the quality of crab cakes that have been frozen by the customer.

How long will my crab cakes stay fresh?
Crab Cakes are perishable. They shoudl be prepared within 3 to 4 days of receipt. Store them in your Refrigerator. Freezing is NOT recommended. See product instructions accompanying your order.

If my package arrives late - how will I know if my crab cakes are still fresh?
We take every precaution to make sure your order arrives fresh. But in the event that it is delayed or mishandled during transit you should know that if the cake is still cold to the touch it is probably still fine. Spoiled crabmeat is sticky, has an ammonia odor. If this should happen, do NOT discard shipping materials and contact us immediately! We can not determine cause without the packaging materials. IMPORTANT: You should be aware that our crab cakes have a slight yellowish color to them because of their ingredients. A slightly yellowish color is absoutely normal. By the Bay Gourmet is NOT RESPONSIBLE for packages that have been lost and/or stolen after certification of delivery by our delivery service to the customer provided address, and during the specified time frame. If you have any questions or are unsure about the condition of your package, please call customer service (443-912-0992).

What day should I place my order and when will it be shipped?
Because our products are perishable, we take extra precautions by shipping just two days a week. We ship on Tuesday and Thursday. This insures that your package doesn't arrive during the weekend. Because perishable items are shipped by overnight/nextday delivery it will arrive at your chosen destination on Wednesday and Friday. You should place all normal sized orders by 12:00 noon the day previous to shipping. Large orders should be placed at least 2 days prior to day of shipping. Note: Non-perishable items may be shipped by regular ground to lower the cost.

What if my package is sent to the wrong address?
Please make sure you give us the full, correct address. It is the customers responsibility to provide us with the correct delivery information. We WILL NOT BE RESONSIBLE for delays in shipment and/or product spoilage that results from incorrect information provided by the customer. If the error occured due to a mistake on the part of By the Bay Gourmet or our delivery service, we will arrange for a refund or replacement as deemed necessary.

How can I change or cancel my order?
Because all our products are made to order and shipped fresh - all orders that have begun processing or that have already been packaged or shipped, can no longer be changed or canceled. If your order has not begun this process yet, call us at 443-912-0992 and we will let you know if it is possible to stop the order. If you would like to add something to your order it will be shipped in a separate package. Please use the website to order it.

How can I pay for my order?
We accept most major credit cards and you can use our secure checkout at our online store. Your credit card will usually be charged within 24 hours of placing your order.
